The fashion world is always searching for fresh faces, but rarely are the faces as furry as this one. Meet Bodhi, the four-legged male model better known as Menswear Dog.
The stylish Shiba Inu (who is named, of course, after Patrick Swayze’s wave-riding antihero in Point Break) began dressing up in spring 2013. His humans, a graphic designer and fashion designer who used to work for Ralph Lauren, posted snaps of his chic ensembles to Facebook. What started as a gag quickly snowballed into a full-blown viral hit.
“Our motivation was sheer excitement and curiosity,” they told CNN. “Excited because there were so many people out there who shared our strange brand of humor and curious to see what an Internet dog can accomplish in this day and age.”
Quite a lot, as it turns out. Today Menswear Dog has hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram, Facebook, and Tumblr. He has starred in campaigns for Coach, Victorinox Swiss Army, Ted Baker, Brooks Brothers, Salvatore Ferragamo, and many more. He’s appeared in publications like GQ, Nylon, and Esquire. He launched a capsule collection for Menswear Daily and attended New York Fashion Week parties. He’s even behind his very own book, Menswear Dog Presents the New Classics: Fresh Looks for the Modern Man.
It’s good to be Bodhi, but it’s not bad to be his owners either. The curly-tailed canine reportedly brings in up to US$15,000 per month. Check out a selection of Menswear Dog’s slickest looks above and try not to be envious of his wardrobe.
