The Art Institute of Chicago built a life-size replica of the artist’s popular painting, Bedroom In Arles, to promote a new exhibition of his work that opens on February 14. And because it’s 2016, the only logical next step was to list the space on Airbnb. The less logical part is the price: only US$10 per night.
“I’m charging $10 for no other reason than that I need to buy paint,” reads the listing (posted, appropriately, under the name Vincent). “However, I will be happy to provide you with tickets to my exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago.” Who doesn’t love a deal?
The Van Gogh room is already booked for all of February, but the Art Institute plans to release more rentals in the future. “The available dates went much faster than anyone could have expected,” the museum posted on Facebook. “We’ll be sharing available dates in March in the next couple of weeks.”
