The global horology spectacle known as Baselworld 2016 has officially kicked off with the world’s finest watchmakers all congregating to one place. Renowned Italian fashion house Gucci is one of the first brands to step out of the wood work to showcase their latest timepieces at this glamorous event.

Surprisingly stylish and elegant, we’ve picked four definitive watches from the luxury brand that caught out attention at this year’s show. What you’ll find from the Gucci selection is a range of watches which can suit just about any gent from cocktail pieces to performance diving watches to the classic Quartz chronograph.

Here’s a breakdown of each piece and what makes them special.

The GG2570 is one of Gucci’s more special pieces as it bears the name of Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s lucky number 25, as well as the brand’s hallmark decade of the 1970s. The unique cushion shape of the watch allows the timepiece to standout whilst still remaining elegant around the wrist. Behind the sapphire glass resides a dark blue sun-brushed dial along with G frame luminous hour and minute hands.

Men of varying wrist sizes are spoilt for choice with the GG2570 coming in an extra large 44mm case or the standard 41mm. How you wear it is entirely up to you and your outfit. Movement is a Swiss made ETA Quartz  which includes a date function at 6 o’clock. For the strap enthusiast the GG2570 comes in either a nylon blue-red-blue strap or a NATO style stainless steel bracelet. Water resistance is rated at 100 metres for this elegant Swiss made timepiece.

Gucci Dive

For 2016 the Gucci Dive receives some much welcomed updates that’s sure to get fashionistas excited. A matte black dial is now adorned with circular white indexes which make time reading extremely easy whilst a pointer sits at the 12 o’clock mark. The large date window at the 6 o’clock remains as does the obligatory ‘Swiss Made’ message below it.

The 45mm case holds the ETA Quartz movement whilst the bezel is beautifully machined with red, green and white details to highlight the brand’s Italian roots. Water resistance of the Gucci Dive is rated at 200m/660feet. For the fashion conscious, you’ll be pleased to know that the Gucci Dive now comes in an updated vintage NATO strap alongside the steel bracelet.

G Timeless Automatic

Classic watchmaking at its finest is what the G Timeless represents and it’s a truly beautiful piece with some standout features. On the outside the watch receives a 38mm polished light yellow gold PVD case with a snapped see-through caseback. Peeking inside will reveal a Swiss made ETA 2824 automatic movement which also drives a date function at the 6 o’clock.

The dial is where the true beauty lies with a silver guilloché dial sporting light yellow gold indexes with unique motifs such as a bee, star, triangle and heart. The watch is complemented with a dark brown alligator leather strap and a water resistant rating of 50 metres.

G Timeless Chrono

The G Timeless Chrono takes vintage styling into 2016 with a 44mm brushed stainless steel case paired with a black PVD bezel and tanned leather strap. The movement is a Swiss made ETA Quartz boasting hours, minutes and small seconds chrono functions on a black anthracite dial. A bee motif also sits within the seconds counter at 6 o’clock. Both the crown and the seconds hand boast red highlights which gives the watch a sportier feel.

Water resistance for the G Timeless Chrono is set at 50 metres.
