At 73-years-old, why try and pave your way as a cheesy rom-com actor when you’ve got a handful of box office hits already under your belt? As the saying goes, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, right? Harrison Ford is testament to this having just been confirmed to play Indiana Jones in a fifth sequel of the film, directed by Steven Spielberg.
It’s been 35 years since Harrison Ford first played Indiana Jones in ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’, reprising the role twice more in ‘Temple of Doom’ in 1984 and ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’ in 1989. His last appearance in the title role was in ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ in 2008.
It’s not the first time Harrison Ford has recycled his iconic roles over the years. The actor recently reprised his role as Han Solo in the latest Star Wars sequel, ‘The Force Awakens‘ and has also been confirmed for a ‘Blade Runner’s sequel alongside Ryan Gosling.
As far as the Indiana Jones sequel goes we don’t have many details, but we do know its release date. Walt Disney Co. said in a recent statement that the fifth film is scheduled to open on July 19, 2019, which means Ford will be 77 at the time of its release, garnering some hilarious reactions on Twitter.
