We’re going to take a punt and say you’ve probably never considered the 1997 action comedy ‘Men in Black’ and the Tatum-Hill comedy ’21 Jump Street’ even in the same ilk, and while it may sound a ridiculous, talks of the two films making a crossover have become a reality.
The crossover is a very real concept and one that writer/directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have confirmed in development. When MTV probed the directors at the Golden Globes about the movie mash-up, Phil Lord said “Nothing’s changed. It’s still a crazy idea, and we only do things that seem like they’re going to be terrible.”
“We’re really focusing on what’s a great story for Schmidt and Jenko and how to tell the next chapter in their lives, and perhaps use creatures from another world at the same time,” said Lord.
Who knows what this unconventional collaboration could mean, but it could be a bit of struggle to get the original cast of ‘Men in Black’ back on board with Tommy Lee approaching 70 and rumours that Will Smith won’t do a movie for less than $20 million. Watch this space.
