Art director Stephen McMennamy discovered Instagram in October 2012. From there, his interest in photography grew and his unique vision became an ongoing project: combophotos.
Using a split-screen format, McMennamy merges clever pairs of pictures into single, surreal images. His creations play with scale (and often with food) to give the viewer a fresh take on familiar objects, resulting in mashups that are unexpected, offbeat, humorous, colourful and, above all, completely charming.
Dangerous weapons are rendered harmless. Tractors are turned into mechanisms for mammoth food delivery. Fruit takes a ‘cheeky’ turn when paired with a man’s torso and a VW Beetle is peeled like a banana.
