Montblanc Celebrate 110th Anniversary With A Snakey New Tourbillon

Montblanc recently celebrated their stellar 110th anniversary with a homage to their maison’s first fountain pen series which came about in 1909.

It wouldn’t be a true celebration without a standout Swiss timepiece to highlight this major milestone though. Enter the slithering design of the Villeret Tourbillon Bi-Cylindrique 110th Years Anniversary, a wristwatch limited to just three pieces in the world. Taking Montblanc’s penchant for continually creating more high-end complications, the new Tourbillon features a double cylindrical balance spring at the 12 o’clock mark whilst movement is handled by a hand-wound calibre MB M65.63 with a 46 hour power reserve.

A gargantuan 52mm red gold case houses the movement as well as an intricate dial design which features a hand-engraved and life-like snake wound around the dial. Every component within the Tourbillon is also hand polished and decorated using traditional watchmaking practices.

The snake motif may not be for everyone but it does give a nod to the“Rouge et Noir” pen collection which followed the same bold design. No price has been released for the Villeret Tourbillon Bi-Cylindrique 110th Years Anniversary but one can take a good guess with the US$290,500 price tag of the standard 18K red gold Tourbillon Bi-Cylindrique.

Beyond that, a cool video of Montblanc’s story starring Australia’s Hugh Jackman can be viewed below.
