Every modern man of substance and style knows the fight that comes with great success, and with great success comes power and, of course, a signature scent. That’s where French perfume and cognac house P Frapin & Cie’s latest scent ‘The Orchid Man’ comes in and packs a mighty punch.
A tribute to the French boxer Georges Carpentier, also known as the ‘Orchid Man’, this fresh, elegant and powerful fragrance takes inspiration from the gentleman’s sport of boxing at the end of the 19th century. Carpentier was a multi-talented man who, after the boxing ring, took to the stage. Carpentier the showman went from Paris to Hollywood, experienced the heights of Wall Street and then its collapse. A modern man who was always ready for new adventures, the Orchid Man opened one of the first cocktail bars in Paris, to great success.
“Boxing, like fragrance, is about facing oneself – an encounter of rituals and studied gestures that see a moment that is both violent and elegant,” P Frapin & Cie says.
The Orchid Man starts off fresh and exuberant with fragrant top nots of Madagascan Black Pepper and Calabrian Bergamot. As it settles, the aroma channels the iconic boxing glove with humid, hot and leather tones through base note additions of Patchouli, Black Amber and Oak Moss.
Not for the fainthearted, The Orchid Man is for men who are in touch with the animal and cerebral side of themselves, much like some of the world’s most victorious fighters.
