Scott Eastwood, the son of veteran actor Clint Eastwood is about to receive his biggest break yet, earning himself a spot in the upcoming Fast & Furious 8 film.
The extensiveness of his role is still yet to be determined but it’s believed via a tweet that Eastwood will play the protégé to Kurt Russell‘s secret service character, Mr. Nobody. This news comes as the hugely popular franchise ramps up its star power yet again, having just announced Charlize Theron as the main villain in the eighth instalment.
The new characters will join veteran Fast & Furious stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris who will all be reprising their roles as a team of make-shift street racers turned international agents.
If there’s any suspicion that Eastwood has been cast as a replacement for the late Paul Walker, it’s no surprise. Besides having some physical resemblance to Walker, Eastwood posted on his Instagram explaining that the pair had been good friends who hung out together.
“We surfed together, traveled together, and he was a huge role model and influencing figure in my life when I was younger. He still is. He was an older brother to me. For me to be able to add to the F&F story, Paul’s story, and the FAST family is like a dream come true,” Eastwood said.
Fast & Furious 8 is scheduled to arrive in theatres on April 14, 2017 with many more major castings to be revealed.
