Is there anything worse than suffering through a Tinder date gone wrong? Whether the conversation is like pulling teeth, or you’re dealing with a stage 5 crazy and you’re scared for your physical safety, this ingenious UK pub has your back.
St. Albans’ The Brickyard in Hertfordshire, England offers a bad date ‘exit strategy’ by calling upon bartenders Rachelle or Jennifer who will either call you a taxi or quite literally remove you from the situation so you can make a speedy and dignified escape.
The only issue is, currently the amenity is reserved for women but since the establishment has received so much positive feedback about the service, it plans to soon offer the same rescue mission to men as well.
“Your safety and happiness is our highest priority,” reads a sign at St. Albans’. “If anyone is bothering you or making you feel uncomfortable please tell us. We will discreetly move them away, and if necessary, ask them to leave.”
“A sign that was designed purely for the safety of our female customers has caught the eyes of thousands (all genders!) and you have all touched our hearts with your support, so thank you for this,” said a statement from the bar.
St. Albans’ aren’t alone in their emergency date rescue. In fact, there are already a host of apps that notify friends when a date goes south and help is needed.
Sounds like a handy service, but here’s hoping you’re not the date to be escaped from.
