It’s that time of year again, when the style and ease of the French meets Hollywood’s elite. We’re talking about the 69th Cannes Film Festival, of course.

As much as the festival is about previewing new films of all genres, from all around the world, it is also about the red carpet and photocall fashion hits and misses. This year, the men pulled out all the stops in stepping away from the drab and predictable black and white suit and tie, and went for plenty more pattern, colour, lightness and brightness to match the picturesque French landscape.

Chris Pine, Joel Edgerton, Laurent Lafitte kept it structured and coloured in pastel grey and red suits, Edgar Ramirez and French photographer JR opted for pinstripes and check, Adam Driver ditched the Kylo Ren get-up for some fancy shades, The Gos opted for cream blazer, Mark Rylance channelled the dapper gents of yesteryear with a hat and print tie, and Oliver Cheshire and JT kept it classic in black tuxedos.
