After spearheading the wildly successful Balmain X H&M collection last year which saw an entire collection sellout with pieces ending up on Ebay for well over $1,000, Rousteing will again be gracing his keen eye for another client – sportswear giant Nike.
The 30-year-old French fashion designer will be looking to combine his prominent social media following and tight-knit friendship with the Kardashian clan to help drive sales in a previously untapped market for Nike via their NikeLab division.
Testament to that, Rousteing announced the collaboration on his Instagram account earlier today with the Nike logo and his intials ‘OR’ in a shield next to it – all in gold and black, naturally.
No details have been revealed on what exactly Rousteing will be designing for NikeLab but based on his past releases, punters can expect a high fashion approach to sportswear. Think Nike’s most contemporary designs with an added dose of Rousteing’s signature attitude and luxe details thrown in. Japanese fashion designer Hiroshi Fujiwara has been a longtime collaborator of NikeLab himself via his Fragment Design label so it will be interesting to see what difference Rousteing will bring to the game.
