Wingsuiting is an art form that requires a steely demeanour and a regular tendency to brush with death. With most flyers proving their chops by launching themselves off mountains and buildings, one woman wanted to show the boys how it’s really done – by gliding face first into an active volcano.
Roberta Mancino is her name and it has long been the Italian’s dream to see a volcano from a perspective never before tried. The dangerous mission involved years of training as the spewing sulfur-laced smoke alone is enough to kill a human being on the ground let alone diving straight into a plume of it.
Located in Chile’s Villarrica stratovolcano, the project was backed by GoPro and the stunning vision speaks for itself. From 4,500 metres on a helicopter to staring a volcano straight in the eye, we don’t reccommend you guys try this one at home. Or anywhere else for that matter.
