Deadly Water: Live Stream Red Bull’s Cape Fear Extreme Surfing Finals

Full screen

When you think of the world’s most dangerous surf, Sydney doesn’t exactly spring up on the world radar for extreme.

Given the right conditions though – say a major storm that just hit the city – and Sydney’s Botany Bay manifests itself as ‘Cape Fear’ – one of the world’s most dangerous surfing spots for those with balls of steel and a penchant for riding the gnarliest waves.

The urban bay lined with reef combines with slabs that pound directly into shallow water, ensuring that the world’s best surfers attending will need to bring their A-game to avoid a battle scars.

It’s a fierce competition as this is a global event backed by Red Bull. Meanwhile Cape Fear’s Contest Director and one of Australia’s most recognised big wave chargers, Mark Mathews, has made the call to go ahead with the competition on Monday the 6th June from 11am AEST.

“This is the best forecast I have seen since 2001,” he said. “We are going to be in for a crazy event if all plays out as predicted.”

Surfers in attendance will include Justen Allport, Jesse Polock, Blake Thornton, Koby Abberton and his brother Jai amongst many more.

To watch the live stream of the Cape Fear finals, head over to Red Bull TV from 10:40am AEST. It’s going to be a wild ride.
