Would we expect anything less than incredible style and talent from the offspring of David Beckham? Clearly not with the news that 17-year-old Brooklyn Beckham just shot Burberry’s latest campaign.
Beckham lent his photographic talents to the UK brand’s Brit fragrance campaign, which features a bunch of bright young things in classic Burberry styles, including Ben Rees, Lewis Helim, Todd Dorigo, Eliza Thomas, Liv Mason Pearson, Maddie Demaine, Carvell Conduah and Harry Pourdjis.
It’s clearly a massive career step for Beckham, but it hasn’t come without controversy. Apparently, leading photographers have expressed frustration at Burberry’s decision to invite Brooklyn to shoot the fragrance campaign, claiming it devalues the skills and training to professionals.
“David and Victoria Beckham represent sheer willpower and graft,” fashion photographer Chris Floyd told the Guardian. “…They represent hard work and then their 16-year-old son comes along and it’s sheer nepotism. He hasn’t done it from hard work, which is counter-intuitive to what his parents represent.”
Brooklyn is the second Beckham kid to work with Burberry after younger brother Romeo appeared in the label’s Christmas campaign which attracted 11 million views within 48 hours of launching. Despite the backlash, there’s no doubt that the Beckham family name comes with its perks.
