Just as we’ve suggested it’s time to get playful with colour, the new McQ SS17 collection has come in to mess up all the rules.
Inspired by Gus Van Sant’s 1991 film My Own Private Idaho, McQ Alexander McQueen SS17 pays homage to tragic heroes and fallen boys. 70’s and 90’s influences are woven together throughout the collection, with both David Bowie and Kurt Cobain as clear style muses.
A mostly monochrome colour palette with subtle injections of red, pink and tan makes it’s way onto bold fashion separates like pleated and oversized trousers, printed knitwear, sheer lace pieces, leather jackets, animal print and even panelled double denim (a little Britney and Justin circa. 2001).
There are plenty of accessories in the McQ campaign if you’re keen on just a taste of the brand’s SS17 offering. Tan boots, slides, Nirvana-style skate shoes, belts and even dark ‘superstar’ shades make this a collection for badass style icons.
