Money doesn’t grow on trees but neither does awesome tech and gadgets. It’s time to open up those wallets as we run through this week’s Shut Up & Take My Money. A happy place where man and machine meet and money departs.

#1 Levitating Wireless Phone Charger

What kind of sorcery is this? It’s the OvRcharge, a smartphone charger which also magnetically levitates your phone in a dazzling display of science. Designed in a small wooden block, the OvRcharge puts out a strong enough magnetic field to lift up to 600g. Unfortunately the device is only in its crowd-funding phase and requires a special case which converts the magnetic field into electricity for the phone to charge. If you can’t wait until the big players put out their own versions, you can grab yours over at Kickstarter now.

Price: $151

#2 Official Star Wars Drones

There’s a word that rarely gets thrown around in gadget circles and that’s ‘official’. Spare the world your despair. The official Star Wars drones have arrived to bring uproar to the office. Propel have modelled all of your favourite spaceships from iconic films from the X-Wing, Millennium Falcon and Tie fighter. All of them fly just like the real thing thanks to transparent propellers situated underneath the toy as opposed to the top. The r/c toys even have a claimed speed of 65km/h whilst the Millennium Falcon can hit 80km/h. May the Force be with you if one of these manages to fly into someone’s face.

Price: $200-$300/BUY

#3 Modobag

Sick of rolling luggage around an airport? Sit and ride on it instead with the insane Modobag. Using the handle as a steer and throttle, the bag comes with its own handbrake for mad skids (not really). It is however powered by a built-in electric motor and can reach 13km/h. The bag’s battery power satisfies the Federal Aviation Administration’s 100 watt hour limit so bringing it on board is possible.

Price: $1,000/BUY

#4 Sony 100-Inch XD9 4K TV

Don’t have enough TV with your wall? Sony have the answer for you. A 100-inch LED TV which has its own stand to ensure it doesn’t tear down a wall during mounting. The massive Sony unit which stands the height of a human boasts Backlight Master Drive technology for individual LED backlight control alongside full 4K HDR support. It also supports Android TV with Google Cast which makes flicking over videos from your smartphone a breeze.

#5 Adventurer Portable Microwave

Warm your food on the go with a microwave that’s small and light enough to carry on your back without that whole pesky radiation issue. Weighing in at just 1.2kg and measuring in at 305x128mm, the portable microwave uses uses LDMOS waves to evenly distribute the heat, removing the need for a spinning dish. The device comes with its own start/stop button, timers, and a LED-lit display. Even cooking roadkill is possible now. If that’s your kind of thing.
