The latest alien invasion film from Hollywood could well be the most serious one yet. Starring Amy Adams and headed by the award-winning French-Canadian director Deni Vileneuve, Arrival looks at the mysterious appearance of extraterrestrial pods from another planet.
More UFOs begin to appear around the world as Adams, playing a language expert, and her co-star Jeremy Renner who plays a mathematician race against time to figure out the purpose of the extraterrestrial landing. More intriguingly, the trailer also reveals that the beings are capable of interpreting the human language, making the susceptible to evaluating a threat.
Think of this one as a cross between Prometheus and Contact paired with the Blade Runner sequel director’s deft storytelling technique.
Arrival will arrive in cinemas in November.
