Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Today’s roundup of the best travel Instagrams features a pack of places that look too good to be true – fortunately, they’re all real and all waiting to be explored.

South Africa scores big this week with two once-in-a-lifetime accommodation opportunities. The Lion Sands Game Reserve offers lavish lodges, private safaris, and the Chalkley Treehouse, a camp set in a centuries-old Leadwood tree directly above the wildlife-filled plains. Talk about the ultimate bush bedroom.

Elsewhere in South Africa, the Makanyane Safari Lodge caters to just 16 guests at a time, spoiling them with luxurious suites and exceptional cuisine on 1,800 hectares of privately owned land. The game reserve is home to a wealth of species like lions, leopards, rhinos, and elephants – any of which you may see wandering just outside your window.

The fantasy continues in Burano, where candy-coloured buildings look straight from a fairytale. Utah‘s Bonneville Salt Flats and New Zealand‘s Waitomo Glowworm Caves might have you thinking you’re on another planet, but we promise your feet are still firmly on Earth.

And finally, in Italy, crowds flocked to an art installation that let them walk on water (no wizardry needed). Read more about The Floating Pier project here.
