Magic happens when you put two iconic perfumers in a room. Or at least it did when Guerlain masterminds Thierry Wassy and Delphine Jelk collaborated on the French label’s latest men’s fragrance, L’Homme Idéal.
Striking and somewhat magnetic, Guerlain L’Homme Idéal combines enthralling almond with spices and a distinguished bergamot for a woody yet oriental scent that truly captures your attention on first whiff.
The core of L’Homme Idéal is further enhanced by elegant Bulgarian rose, an endearing blend of leathery notes, tonka bean and sandalwood and finally heightened by frankincense and the famous vanilla tincture that Guerlain has become so famous for.
In fact, Guerlain is also one of the few perfume houses to use this vanilla tincture, a key ingredient obtained by the Orphin laboratory who use a technique that consists in cutting up the pods into small pieces and plunging them into alcohol until the fragrance takes on a beautiful warm amber colour.
“Faithfully reproducing the original vanilla pod and its heady syrupy facet, it heightens and ennobles the whole fragrance, from the top to the base notes,” says Master Perfumer Thierry Wasser.
Contained in an unmistakably masculine taupe-coloured bottle with square shoulders, Guerlain’s L’Homme Ideal is the kind of seductive and admirable scent that will no doubt turn the heads of friends and lovers alike.
