‘Ocean’s Eleven’ Reboot Receives Green Light With All-Female Cast

Hollywood’s penchant for rebooting sequels in 2016 is on a roll with the green light of Ocean’s Eight – an all-female cast lead by Sandra Bullock and Rihanna as the next spin-off film to the Ocean’s Eleven casino heist franchise.

Production of the upcoming film is slated to begin this October with producers short of just actor to fill the eight leading roles. A report from Deadline recently confirmed that pop star and Battleship actor (“Boom”) Rihanna will be joining the award-winning Anne Hathaway and Awkwafina as the film’s protagonists. Leading the team will be Sandra Bullock who will portray the ex-convict sister to George Clooney’s Danny Ocean, whilst Australia’s Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling and Helena Bonham Carter are also on board.

The go-ahead of the film follows shortly after the well-welcomed Ghostbusters reboot which starred an all-female cast and was given positive reviews by critics but still made a loss at the box office.

The film’s original director Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney will produce Ocean’s Eight whilst Hunger Games director Gary Ross will lead the new project.

From a narrative point of view, Ocean’s Eight will pick up where Ocean’s Thirteen left off. As for a release date and details of Ocean’s number eight player, no details have

The film will continue where the original trilogy left off with Bullock leading the pack as she takes on the role of Danny Ocean’s (Clooney) ex-convict sister. As of now there’s no news on a release date and which female celebrity will snag the eighth spot.
