Some say that table tennis is for kids. Well if that kid happened to grow up and become a douchey millionaire then this stone behemoth is the one unit they’d probably have sitting pretty in their pool room. Welcome to Shut Up & Take My Money, a place where we showcase the world’s coolest gadgets and objects of manly affection.
#1 Monolith Ping Pong Table
Proudly crafted in Melbourne in a limited number of just three sets, the Monolith Ping Pong Table is something straight out of a criminal kingpin’s pool room. More than just an extravagant piece of sporting equipment, the table was designed by artist Laith McGregor and architect Murray Barker. It features a table top made of concrete and stone aggregates along with copper inlays which fade over time to give a unique finish. A bead blasted stainless steel net finishes off the set quite nicely.
#2 Daft Punk Replica Helmet
It appears Daft Punk fever is still alive and well with Love Props building the perfect replica helmet based off the iconic DJ duo. Taking the claim of perfect replica rather seriously, the helmet features over 200 working LEDs, a microphone, line input, beat detection, Wi-Fi connectivity and motion sensor control knobs. See how it was made in the video below. It could well be the world’s coolest Halloween costume to date.
#3 Peugeot eF01
Keeping in line with the French theme, carmaker Peugeot have gone off to make their first ever folding electric bicycle. The eF01 is a cool little project designed to make inner-city commuting a breeze whilst leaving a very little dent on the environment. All it takes is 10-seconds to get the bike folded down to size with the weight sitting at a manageable 17 kg. The range of the bike is 30km with a top speed of 20km/h from a two-hour. Charging points meanwhile is handled with a dockstation or a car boot with a 12V power output. It can also charge via a domestic home mains.
#4 Micro SNES
You likely grew up on the console and now you can relive those days on a machine the size of you thumb. Hugo Doris was the creator of this sweet little unit which houses a Rasberry Pi Zero unit, a USB hub and a clay sculpted body to resemble the classic Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The emulator plays all most of your most favourite classics including Mario and more. No news yet on whether the unofficial device will go on sale as this is the very first prototype.
#5 Adidas Yeezy Football Cleats
Sneakers in a tech and gadgets wrap? You bet. This isn’t your average pair of football cleats. These are the ultra popular Yeezy Boost silhouettes set on a traditional 350 which sold out months ago. They’re legitimate too with the shoes set to make its debut on the feet of DeAndre Hopkins of the Houston Texans for their upcoming open season match against the Bears. The kicker? You can’t buy them and there’s no word on whether they’ll be made available to the public. And that’s why they’re included in this week’s list of the most wanted and ridiculous.
#6 Bugaboo Boxer Luggage System
If the name sounds familiar, that’s because Bugaboo are known for making some of the world’s most reliable strollers. Today they’re taking that experience to the world of air travel with their latest luggage set which features an innovative folding chassis that can hold extra bags like a stroller or be lugged behind you. The intuitive system features a detachable travel case on the top making for easy carry-on luggage. See the innovative device in action in the video below.
