With a little over two months to go before Darth Vader and the Empire are back on the big screen, a final trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has dropped.
The clip is loaded with tantalising teasers about the action to come. We hear more about the mysterious figure of Jyn Erso’s (Felicity Jones) father, Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen), who was intimately involved in the creation of the Death Star. Fathers have always played significant roles in the Star Wars universe, and it looks like Rogue One will continue the tradition.
The trailer also clues us in to Jyn’s backstory and her recruitment by the Rebellion. We see the rag tag group of Rebel misfit heroes form and the birth of the ‘Rogue One’ call sign. We even get a glimpse of everyone’s favourite man in black, stalking menacingly (as if he could move any other way) through a puff of smoke.
Along with Felicity Jones and Mads Mikkelsen, Rogue One features Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Warwick Davis, Forest Whitaker, and Diego Luna. It’s the first of three spinoff movies that have been greenlit by Lucasfilm (the other two will give backstories to Han Solo and Boba Fett) and is slated to open December 16.
