All directions point north in this frisky shoot for NIF Magazine. Today we head to Palm Springs with Olivia North and Jim Minics, and join them as they explore the landscape, take a cooling dip, and achieve the impossible: making the desert even hotter.
You know you’re in for something good with Ms. North, who calls herself a “model/muse/performer/creative” and the “Queen of Hedonism and Sensuality.” She’s one half of an outfit called The Dream Queens, a creative team that works on lookbooks, music videos, advertising campaigns, editorials, digital art, dance and fire performances, party hosting, and… well, by the looks of it, pretty much anything else that could reasonably be deemed “artistic expression.”
Minics is an internationally published beauty photographer better known as ‘The Average Jim.’ Since 1990, he has made a name for himself snapping both celebrities and average folks, but most especially the female form. He credits growing up with his mother and two older sisters for his appreciation of “independent, strong and intelligent women.”
Together the duo hit SoCal for an adventure that’s one part boudoir shoot, one part Burning Man, and one part breezy summer afternoon. North starts out posing with a vintage bicycle, then hits the barren terrain in a rave-ready one-piece and goggles. After her exertions in the desert, she relaxes with a dip in the pool and a spot of nearly-nude sunbathing. All that’s missing for a ideal afternoon is a tropical cocktail.
