Wonder Woman‘s debut trailer was one of the most talked-about drops of Comic-Con 2016, and fans got their first glimpse of Gal Gadot as the Amazonian warrior in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice earlier this year. Now, with the release of a second trailer, we learn more about the origins of Diana Prince.
“I used to want to save the world,” says Diana, as scenes of her in her homeland, Themyscira, are shown. “This beautiful place. But the closer you get, the more you see the great darkness within. I learned this the hard way a long, long time ago.”
The film is set 100 years in the past, during “the war to end all wars.” Diana decides to leave her island sanctuary to join fighter pilot Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) on his mission to save innocent lives and defeat a greater evil. “It is our sacred duty to defend the world,” she proclaims. “And that’s what I’m going to do.”
The dynamic duo will encounter plenty of action along the way. The trailer shows Wonder Woman in all her badass glory: shooting arrows, battling with her sword and shield, deflecting bullets with her Bracelets of Submission, and wrangling baddies with her golden Lasso of Truth. If Tinder existed in Themyscira, Diana is not a date you’d want to stand up.
Wonder Woman is scheduled to hit cinemas next June. Watch the full trailer above.
