Apple is a famously forward-thinking brand, but occasionally it’s an item from the company’s past that catches our attention. In this case, it’s a ’90s relic set to fetch five digits in an eBay auction: a pair of vintage Apple sneakers made exclusively for employees.
Heritage Auctions has set the opening bid at US$15,000 for these unusual kicks. The shoes, available in seriously limited quantities, were produced for Apple employees in the early 1990s and have rarely been seen in photographs.
Heritage Auctions claims they were made by Adidas, though you’ll find no stripes here. Instead the sneakers feature pristine white leather uppers with the old-school rainbow Apple logo emblazoned on the side. It’s the ultimate mashup of nerds and sneakerheads, with a hefty dose of nostalgia thrown in.
The Apple sneakers will go under the gavel during a live auction on Sunday, June 11. They’ll also available for online bids on eBay.
Intrigued? Prepare to shell out big time if you want to own this odd piece of Apple memorabilia. Heritage believes the sneakers could fetch as much as US$36,000 when all is said and done.
