Rock legend Keith Richards is ready to move on from his penthouse pad in New York City‘s Greenwich Village. Along with his wife, Patti Hansen, the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist has listed the property for just under US$12 million.
The three-unit combo is located in a full service, pre-war co-op building built in 1929 that was once a luxury hotel. Fully renovated in 2011, the property contains three bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a 47-foot-long living, dining and entertainment space. Three private terraces offer space for al fresco entertaining and expansive views of Greenwich Village, Washington Square Park, and the Manhattan skyline.
At one end of the living room is a dining area, a breakfast counter, and a sun-filled kitchen with a walk in pantry and modern fittings. At the other end is a home office or flexible 4th bedroom with an en-suite bathroom that can be fully separated from the rest of the floor by a large sliding wall that is completely concealed when not in use. Every square foot of the apartment is similarly designed to maximise storage and function.
The rockstar-worthy master suite boasts two spacious walk-in closets perfect for showcasing your extensive scarf collection, and a spa-like master bathroom complete with glass-enclosed steam shower, soaking tub, and double vanity sink.
Additional highlights of the Joe Serrins-designed property include a staircase with a leather-wrapped bronze handrail, a full-size laundry room, automatic blinds on every window, a fully integrated Sonos sound system, and a secondary entrance for your manservant and other house staff.
Richards purchased the penthouse in 2014 for $10.5 million, and first listed the property two years later for $12.23 million. But you can’t always get what you want, and even with his star power backing the listing, the property failed to sell. It was delisted later that year before returning with a price chop and a brokerage change.
Richard is now asking $11.995 million for the duplex.
