Ring ring… your childhood is calling, and it wants you to stay in Airbnb’s latest unconventional residence: a house built entirely of LEGO bricks. Twenty-five million of them, to be exact.
A lucky contest winner and three friends will get a superfan’s sleepover in the newly-opened home in Denmark later this month. Should you be said lucky winner, your trip to plastic brick paradise begins with a welcome from Jamie Berard, one of the finest LEGO Master Builders in the world, who will share top-secret LEGO tips and tricks before joining you for lunch served by friendly robot waiters.
After fuelling up, you’ll follow Jamie on a private tour of the Tree of Creativity, built by hand from over 6 million bricks, then explore the Masterpiece Gallery, which showcases LEGO creations from fans all over the world.
You’ll also visit the Experience Zones – where you can direct your own LEGO movie, engineer robotic cars, design cities, and more – and the basement, where you can trace the timeline of LEGO history and rediscover the most iconic sets ever produced.
At last you’ll arrive in your very own primary-coloured playground. The bedroom is entirely constructed from LEGO bricks, from the armchairs, to the alarm clock, to the TV, to the floating bed (complete with waterfall). Even the cat is composed of the iconic blocks.
You are, of course, encouraged to play with your surroundings.
“I am so intrigued to see what people will imagine,” said Berard, whose real-life title is Design Manager Specialist at the LEGO Group. “We have unlimited bricks here, and in some ways it can be a bit challenging but it also liberates you to imagine something that is truly meaningful and expressive.”
All contest entries must be received here by November 16. To enter, answer this question in 550 characters or less: “If you and your family had an infinite supply of Lego bricks, what would you build?”
Airbnb will fly the winners to Denmark from anywhere in the world. Just be careful where you step.
