Airbnb Reveals The Hottest Cities You'll Visit In 2018

They may just look after your accommodation when you’re off on your adventure, but there’s no doubting that Airbnb has changed the tourism landscape – and now they also have the keys to your 2018 travel itinerary.

In its latest survey findings, the company revealed the ten most popular cities their users travelled to and it was all about the big ticket names. The list comes via Airbnb’s 2018 Travel Trends and highlights locations across the US, Europe and one Asian country.

On a more hostile front, the survey also revealed that travellers were still trading up hotels for Airbnb accommodation as many preferred to be closer to locals and their traditions as opposed to being holed up in tourist precincts.

Not surprisingly, cities such as Paris, New York and London made the top ten of the most booked cities. Smaller newcomers to the list now includes Lisbon and Miami amongst Airbnb travellers.

Airbnb reinforced this data with what they believe is the right direction for tourism.

“It helps people create new economic opportunities for themselves in the homes and communities where they live, and helping emerging destinations welcome more visitors in a scalable, sustainable way,” the statement said.

“With up to 97 percent of the accommodation charge remaining in the hands of hosts, and 42 percent of guests’ spending occurring within the neighbourhoods where they stay, the financial impact of home sharing can be significant for emerging travel destinations.”

Here is the list of the most popular Airbnb cities for the year:

2: Paris

3: Osaka

4:New York City

5: London
