We’ve taken you on a tour of some of the world’s coolest co-working spaces and now there’s another precinct for elite players of the tech world.
This is The Battery and it’s as exclusive as it gets in the realm of Silicon Valley clubhouses. Designed as an innovative social networking space for its VIP members, the club purposely evokes the aesthetic flair of the social clubs of the golden era.
It’s mix of charm, opulence and technology ensures that both work and networking are efficiently conducted in a distinguished manner.
The Battery comes as the brain child of husband-wife founders of Bebo, the social network which was eventually bought from Michael and Xochi Birch by AOL for a cool $US850 million.
There’s a no photo policy for members of The Battery who are required to fork out over US$2,000 a year to enjoy the club’s amenities.
That includes access to its fancy restaurant, numerous drinking holes, libraries, spa, gym, wine cellar and special events without the need for hazing. These special events can cover such things as book signings, private lectures, and concerts in which Snoop Dogg and deadmau5 have headed.
Oh and on the topic of bars, there’s a secret one hidden behind a book case which reveals itself at the touch of a statue – yes, like 1960s Batman.
Those who are interested in bringing guests to the venue can do so only to the space’s dedicated boutique hotel which commands US$1,000 per night.
