Kanye’s Sydney product launch was a such a flop that they cancelled it after 45 minutes. However, you’ve got to wonder, is this a backlash to his controversial slavery comments last week, or do people just not give a sh*t about bike shorts?
According to The Daily Mail, fans were expected to be queuing down the street, “To purchase the $550 neoprene leggings and $500 bike shorts that had been spruiked by Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian on Instagram.”
However, Fairfax Media reported that customers failed to turn up to the Oxford Street store to purchase the rapper’s collaboration with the Australian sportswear giant 2XU.
A spokesperson for 2XU told Fairfax the launch wasn’t shut down due to a lack of interest, but rather “a change of direction”.
“There’s been a change of direction from head office and unfortunately the event has been cancelled.”
If that’s not corporate for, “This event has been a massive flop” then I guess I’m not as bilingual as I thought.
If you are one of the few MAMILS (Middle Aged Men In Lycra) that appreciate gangsta rap, and are interested in making a half-grand purchase, the activewear is currently available to pre-order on 2XU’s online store—however the exact release date is yet to be announced.
