This Flying Aston Martin Could Be James Bond's Future Ride

It’s more marketing ploy than actual production-ready, but there’s no doubting that the Aston Martin Volante Vision Concept is a stunning piece of equipment to look at – should it ever come to fruition.

We’re talking about a flying Aston Martin, a luxury personal aircraft that’s capable of vertical take-off and landing with luxury appointments to boot. Conceived in partnership with Cranfield University, Cranfield Aerospace Solutions and Rolls-Royce, the project’s goal is to investigate the future of personal transport as the global population continues to grow and mega cities become reality.

Aston Martin President and CEO Dr. Andy Palmer said that, “we need to look at alternative solutions to reduce congestion, cut pollution and improve mobility. Air travel will be a crucial part in the future of transportation, the Volante Vision Concept is the ultimate luxury mobility solution.”

Whilst no powertrain details have been revealed, it’s expected that the Volante Vision Concept will utilise the latest advancements in aerospace and autonomous technology. The design of course will evoke Aston Martin’s signature aesthetic, a move which has already been trialled on the Aston Martin personal submarine.

“We are at the beginning of a new generation of urban transportation, vertical mobility is no longer a fantasy,” says Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s EVP and Chief Creative Officer.

“We have a unique chance to create a luxury concept aircraft that will represent the ultimate fusion of art and technology.”
