Hollywood A-lister and twice-voted sexiest man alive Brad Pitt has just announced the release of a new gin he’s been working on between takes, proving once again that he really is the man who can do it all.

We’re already enormous fans of Brad Pitt and, let’s be honest, who isn’t? The Hollywood veteran not only continues to deliver on-screen performances that redefine what it means to be cool over and over again but also reinvents himself in his life beyond the silver screen, endlessly switching up his style game.

Now, however, it seems the A-list actor is seeking new pastures, new investments, and new hobbies, this week announcing the launch of a carefully cultivated new spirit that follows hot on the heels of previous moves into the booze industry.

As well as being a Hollywood superstar, Pitt is a seasoned wine and champagne entrepreneur but is now set to launch a new spirit at the Cannes Film Festival later this year. People reports that Pitt’s latest venture is a premium, dry London-style gin inspired by the south of France.

Officially called ‘The Gardener Gin,’ the launch has been teased on social media for a number of months but will be stealthily launched at Cannes under the name “the French Riviera Gin.” Pitt’s previous partners in his Miraval wines, the Perrin family, as well as Master Distiller Tom Nichol have collaborated with him to craft the small-stilled organic gin over a two-year period.

According to Pitt’s team, The Gardener contains notes of juniper, liquorice, coriander, pink grapefruit, lemon, and orange, creating a fresh, ‘Riviera-style’ taste. It will hit U.S. shops in limited edition in September, and bottleshops worldwide shortly thereafter.

With help from bartenders at the Carlton Cannes Hotel, Pitt & Co. have also concocted a ‘Secret Garden’ cocktail made with gin, lemon juice, orange juice, strawberry syrup, and an egg white, which will be served up to the film industry’s big-wigs during the legendary film festival.

Perrin has described The Gardener as “an expression of the land we cultivate and guard for the generations to come. It is a quest for perfection, dreamed up by friends who share a dedication to art and to craft.”

Pitt’s entry into the world of spirits marks a significant change in direction but not a total departure from his passion for winemaking. Since purchasing Château Miraval in 2012 with his then-partner Angelina Jolie, Pitt has successfully expanded his vineyards while generating international interest and demand.

In fact, his flourishing interest in wine has encouraged something of a trend amongst Hollywood celebs, with George Clooney and George Lucas both following in Pitt’s footsteps in winemaking. Despite the acrimonious court filings between Pitt and Jolie, industry insiders believe that the land and its wine – as well as Brad’s knowledge and business sense – will earn a lasting legacy.

Of course, if we’re talking celebrity gins, Pitt is by no means the first celeb to come out with his own drop. Celebrity chef Gordan Ramsay has his own gin, simply called ‘Ramsay’s Gin’, as does Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas, who launched the gin brand ‘Oath’ last year.

Fellow Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds, too, famously owns a major stake in Aviation American Gin, promoting the product in ads and his movies.

In the words of the man himself, “It’s not just a passing trend.” Here at DMARGE, we certainly hope not: if it’s good enough for the world’s sexiest man, we reckon its probably good enough for us too.
