Ed Sheeran’s fashion formula is pretty simple: dress like a hobo, and wear watches fit for kings. The super-popular singer/songwriter’s latest piece – a one-off version of one of the most coveted watches on the market right now, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak – demonstrates this.

The 32-year-old Brit was in Frisco, Texas for the 58th Academy Of Country Music Awards, having been invited to perform his latest single Life Goes On – which has more than a bit of a country vibe to it – during the awards show.

Ed kept things classically lowkey in a white t-shirt, Stone Island cargo pants and a pair of Off-White x Nike Air Jordan I ‘UNCs’ (okay, that’s a little bit hypebeast-y)… But then blew us away with an enormous watch flex.

His watch, which has been confirmed to be a piece unique (i.e. one of one), is based on the already pretty tasty Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar ref. 26579CB.OO.1225CB.01. However, that watch has a blue dial, blue inner bezel and white subdials, whereas Ed Sheeran’s has a white dial, white inner bezel and black subdials.

We prefer the way Ed’s watch looks, actually: the sheer white dial pairs perfectly with the watch’s already very eye-catching white ceramic case and integrated bracelet. This might be the coolest white watch ever made, in our humble opinion… And one huge flex. Imagine having enough clout with AP (as well as cash) to commission your own Royal Oak.

Under the hood of this beats AP’s calibre 5134, which is only 4.5mm thick. It’s a self-winding perpetual calendar movement with week indication, day, date, astronomical moon, month, leap year, hours and minutes.

Ed is quickly becoming one of the biggest watch collectors in the music business – and the man has exceptional taste. He’s got a few Royal Oaks and a whole bunch of Patek Philippes, but he’s also got some proper aficionado pieces – such as an A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk and a vintage Rolex Cosmograph Daytona “Paul Newman“.

That said, not all of the watches in his collection are insane luxury pieces. During his last performance for Apple TV earlier this week, Ed was spotted wearing a bright yellow G-Shock. He’s a man of multiplicities…
