When Paris Saint German signed one of Barcelona’s deadliest prongs in August 2017, for a cool 222 million euros (roughly AU$350 million), some wondered whether Neymar’s agility, pace, ‘tekkers’ and social media presence justified the world record transfer fee.
48 goals later, and few were still questioning it—especially as his side has struggled badly without him (while Neymar has been injured this year PSG have been eliminated from the Champions League, and twice missed the opportunity to wrap up Ligue 1).
But how much does the man get paid? According to the BBC, Neymar is on a salary of 45 million euros (AU$71 million) per year, which equates to AU$1,366,245 a week, AU$195,177 per day, AU$8,132 per hour and AU$135 per minute.
While these are ‘before tax’ figures, if Neymar’s Instagram posts are anything to go by, there’s still a fair bit left once it hits his account.
So: how does Neymar spend his $71 million a year salary? Let’s check out his Instagram to find out!
Ga Ga Milano Watches

While GaGa Milano is now one of Neymar’s sponsors, this came about after he spent $180,000 of his own money, in one day, at their store.
Cute Matching Outfits
Neymar came from humble beginnings and—unlike some other mega-rich sports stars (*cough* Floyd Mayweather *cough*)—has his priorities straight, dedicating himself to his family rather than flashing his cash on Instagram.
Hanging Out With Pro-Surfers

It’s no secret Neymar has a fast-blooming bromance with professional surfer Gabriel Medina, hanging out with him in Portugal, congratulating him on contest wins and—as you can see above—taking some sneaky vacation time together.
Earings
Will the real slim shady please stand up? What do you get when you cross Jack Sparrow with a right-footed Lionel Messi? Neymar Jr, take a bow.

When you’re on $71 million a year it probably doesn’t seem like much to drop a couple of hundred on an official NBA singlet. But still—we’re impressed.
Lakers Socks
Neymar really loves the NBA.

He’s human! Unless that happens to be a decaf. Or a green tea.
Romantic Nights Out With His Wife
We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again—despite the criticism he receives for his (occasional) on field theatrics and ‘World Cup Spaghetti’ hairstyle—Neymar has his priorities in order.
Tattoos

Neymar likes his ink. And if you had the weight of the world’s paparazzi on you 24/7, you’d pay a premium to get the designs spotless too.

Interior Design
Neymar has a truly beautiful… lounge. And his love for his wife’s pretty adorable too.

But still: nothing compares to his on-going bromance with Gabriel Medina.
