Adam Reynolds is an Australian rugby player currently signed with the Brisbane Broncos. He was born in Sydney, New South Wales and showed a keen interest in rugby from a young age.

He cites brothers Andrew and Matthew Johns, and Darren Lockyer as his favourite players, and former South Sydney Rabbitohs Fullback Nathan Merritt, as his favourite South Sydney player of all time.

Playing Career

Adam Reynolds began playing rugby for a number of clubs, including St Peters JRLFC, Alexandria Rovers, La Perouse Panthers and Kensington United.

He then joined the South Sydney Rabbitohs’ Under-20s team in 2009, which saw him play for the ’09 and ’10 seasons. In 2011, Adam Reynolds sustained an ACL injuryto his left knee during pre-season, which saw him miss out on the entire season.

Adam Reynolds was then promoted to the starting lineup for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2012, making his NRL debut in Round 1 against rival team, the Sydney Roosters. Reynolds continued to play for the Rabbitohs until his move to Brisbane Broncos in 2022.

Reynolds was named captain of the Rabbitohs in 2020, which he said at the time was an honour. He is quoted as saying, “I grew up across the road from Redfern Oval in apartments on Elizabeth Street and always wanted to play for Souths, so to have the chance to captain the team is amazing.”

During his career with the Rabbitohs, Adam Reynolds made 231 appearances and scored 38 tries. While he did win a Premiership with the club in 2014, he missed out on winning a Grand Final with the Souths, although came narrowly close to wining it in a 14-12 loss to Penrith Panthers in 2021.

Adam Reynolds joined Brisbane Broncos in 2022, having signed a three-year deal with the team in May 2021. There was some speculation that he would join the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, and it’s claimed he could have earned a higher salary had he signed with the club, but he ultimately chose Brisbane as his new home.

He was placed straight into the role of captain and made his NRL debut with the club during Round 2 in a win over Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

He followed this up with a win over his former club in Round 9 in a 32-12 victory.

Career Update

Adam was signed as one of the ambassadors for Nike which was not surprising as he has been a rugby player for a whole decade. He sees his club as part and parcel of his life. It’s more than sports; it extends to family. He signed a deal with Brisbane Broncos Rugby Club, which was further extended upon expiration. In 2024, he celebrated 4,000 career goals, a result of hard work, consistency, persistence, and criticisms.

Most Current Match Update

Upon his comeback, the Brisbane captain orchestrated a commanding 38-12 victory over North Queensland in March 2024. The 33-year-old showcased exceptional control over both short and long kicks, captivating a crowd of 45,793 at Suncorp Stadium, Australia. Reynolds dominated the Cowboys’ defensive line in the first half, propelling his team to a 20-12 lead at halftime. Notably, the Broncos had struggled, winning merely seven out of 20 games in the absence of representative prop Payne Haas since 2019.

The sky was his stepping stone to shooting the club to the top. His stout-built legs and arms have excellently contributed to the growth of the club and, of course, his career.

Adam Reynolds Tattoos

Adam Reynolds has a number of tattoos on his body, and he’s previously had others but has since had them removed. His most notable tattoo to have been removed was of a woman on his right pectoral. In some images, you can still see a faint outline of the tattoo that once was, but Adam says he plans to fill the space back in in the future.

Adam has a tattoo displaying the name of his first daughter, Nakaylah on his neck and a full sleeve tattoo on his left arm, comprising various religious images including rosary beads, a portrait of the Virgin Mary and a Sacred Heart.

On his left leg, Adam Reynolds has a portrait of Jamaican musician Bob Marley and on the opposite leg, a pair of clowns with the wording, “Laugh Now, Cry Later.” Above the clowns is a portrait of American rapper Post Malone. Adam hasn’t given much in the way of explanation as to why he’s got Post Malone tattooed on his leg, so we simply have to speculate that he’s just a fan of the rapper’s music.

On his left pectoral, Adam has a large Japanese flower, which covers up a lion tattoo. He has the words, “Brothers ‘Till Death” tattooed on his torso – Adam has previously said his brother is the rugby player he looks up to the most – and he has further Japanese-style ink on his left arm: two koi fish surrounding the names of his parents and his brother, Wayne.

Yet more ink gives a nod to the Rabbitohs, in the form of the club’s logo with “21”, and his son Kobe’s name can be found on his left hand alongside a rose. His wife, Tallara, has been immortalised in ink on his right hand.

Adam’s largest tattoo is the one on his back, which again, is in a Japanese style and incorporates his surname alongside a large dragon and a phoenix.

Adam Reynolds Salary

According to CodeSports, Adam Reynolds signed a three-year contract with Brisbane Broncos worth a reported A$2.4 million, that will see him play for the club until the end of the 2025 season.

Adam said his family played a major part in his decision to sign with the Broncos, saying, “I had four young kids and my salary was about to be cut in half,”

“I was fine with that, but I wanted two years. There are no hard feelings. A decision had to be made [and] I made the decision to look after my family… it’s business at the end of the day.”
