Caitlin Foord, born on November 11, 1994, in Shellharbour, New South Wales, Australia, is a highly accomplished Australian women’s footballer known for her speed, agility, and technical skills. Foord’s football journey began with Illawarra Stingrays and the Sutherland Sharks before joining the New South Wales Institute of Sport.

Career

Caitlin Foord made her breakthrough in the senior national team, the Matildas, at the age of 16. Her performances showcased her exceptional dribbling ability, precise crosses, and versatility to play as a forward or winger.

She has since become a key player for the Australian national team, representing her country in FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011, 2015 & 2019, AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2014, 2018 & 2022, and Olympic Games 2016 & 2020.

At club level, Foord has represented Sydney FC in the W-League, the Portland Thorns in the NWSL, and signed with Arsenal Women in the FA Women’s Super League in 2020.

Leisure

Foord is known for mostly hanging out with her Australian besties, McKenzie Arnold and Sam Kerr. During the lass’ off-season, she spent winter in Switzerland. The trio also visited Seychelles, Ibiza in Spain, the Gold Coast in Queensland, and Summercloud Bay. They celebrated winning 4 world cups together.

After her off-seasons, she returned to Arsenal after the Asian Cup. She completed her diploma in nutrition at Torrens Uni, which offered online courses. In May 2023, she extended her contract with Arsenal, after which she unwound by climbing mountains in Rwanda. She won the LND Cup and then had an outing with her teammates. Foord participated in the Australian Open at the beginning of the new year. She led the Arsenal women’s wing to victory in the World Cup.

Foord seems close to her elder sister, Jamie, as she celebrated her birthday into the year. She was also grateful for her sister’s presence in her life.

Top Moments

Her top ten notable moments included participating in the Sydney Open in front of thousands of people, celebrating history, and her quarter-final score in front of her family. She stated that football games had united her family across the world. She was proud of her goals in front of her grandmother and her extended cousins, whom she had not interacted with in a while.

Foord’s inquisitive nature also led her to try flying a plane as a co-pilot. On St. Pat’s Day, she visited Dublin and graced Instagram with beautiful shots from her events in Dublin. In April 2024, the national female Australian team, in which Foord was a participant, won the Conti Cup. It is evident that Caitlin practices the principle of “work hard and play harder,” balancing her busy schedule with vacations to ease off with her favorite duo.
