Who is Martin Nguyen?
Martin Nguyen is an Australian MMA fighter who competes in the ONE Championship. He was born on 5th March 1989 to Vietnamese parents, but moved to Australia at a young age. At school, it’s claimed he had a passion for playing rugby, but after suffering constant injuries, decided he was better off away from the game.
Nguyen then picked up martial arts at the age of 21, initially just to help lose weight and to find a new hobby, but soon realised he had a natural talent for it.

After picking up MMA at the age of 21, Martin won two amateur tournaments before turning pro in 2012. Competing in the featherweight class, Martin soon took home the Brace Featherweight World Championship in Australia. Following this win, Martin Nguyen signed with the One Championship in Singapore.
Martin’s first bout in the One Championship was a win against Rocky Batolbatol, while his second was a loss to Marat Gafurov. After dusting himself off, Martin Nguyen then went on a serious winning streak, winning his next 6 fights, which included winning both the One Championship Featherweight title and the One Championship Lightweight title, both in 2017.
With these two championships to his name, Martin Nguyen became the first-ever two-division titleholder in One Championship history.
Since these two wins, Martin has continued to win fights throughout his career, although some losses have occurred, which have included losing both of his Championship titles.
His most recent fight, a Main Card event against Kiril Gorobets, came on the 11th of March 2022, which resulted in a win for Nguyen.
