Jaguar have followed in the footsteps of cars like the Alfa Romeo QV by turning their humble compact sedan into an absolute beast. How beastly exactly? Try their most powerful production car ever.
Developed under the new wing of Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO Technical Centre), the lab coat named XE SV Project 8 is propelled by a big supercharged 5.0-litre V8 punching out 441kW of power and 700Nm of torque. In the stats game that affords the ginger rocket a top speed of 322km/h and a 0 – 100km/h sprint time of just 3.3 seconds.
All of the car’s fury is put down to the road via an all-wheel-drive system paired to an 8-speed transmission for rapid shifting through the gears with stopping power taken care of by carbon ceramic units. Cosmetically the car also receives some aggressive upgrades in the form of aluminum body panels including flared fenders, an adjustable front splitter, adjustable rear wing and a carbon fibre rear bumper.
The car will come in two variations – the ‘standard’ model which comes in a four-seat layout or a track edition which wipes out the rear seats in favour of a roll cage and racing harness.
Now for the bad news. Australia will miss out as the vehicle is only being built in left-hand-drive and will come with a limited production run of just 300 examples. On the flip side, you do save yourself $250,000.
