Accuracy & Clarity
DMARGE ensures that factual material in news stories and features is accurate, well researched and distinguishable from other material such as opinion pieces.
DMARGE will provide a correction or other sufficient remedial action if published material is inaccurate or misleading.
Fairness & Balance
DMARGE ensures that facts are presented with reasonable fairness and balance. When DMARGE writers are quoting a source (or a social media post), writers ensure that it is clear where the information has come from, and present it fairly. DMARGE writers also ensure reasonable counterarguments to any major claim reported are available for readers to see, and to make up their own minds about.

When reporting, DMARGE seeks to balance the public interest with respect for privacy when it comes to the disclosure of information and freedom of expression.

This involves experimenting with ideas and impartially reporting on stories and events some might find offensive.

DMARGE always draws a clear line between its editorial content and branded content. This is achieved via a call-out sentence at the top or bottom of all sponsored content.
DMARGE will sometimes earn a small commission from products purchased from partner websites.

Our Complaints Policy has three levels:
To make a complaint about any DMARGE content, the first step is to contact DMARGE’s Editor. You can do that by emailing [email protected]. You will get a notification that your complaint has been received and outlining how we plan to address it.
The issue will be reviewed by DMARGE’s Editor and any relevant DMARGE journalists.
In our assessment of appropriate response, the Editor will consider whether the issue is in conflict with DMARGE’s Editorial Policy.
If the complaint concerns one of DMARGE’s commercial partners, we will pass the complaint on and it will transfer to the company’s own official feedback channels.
If an issue is found to have breached our editorial policy, the complainant will be contacted and consulted about how we are going to address it. Addressing a complaint involves the following steps:
- Correction. If an article is altered as the result of a complaint, we will highlight this in a note appearing at the end of the article with a date and brief relevant context.
- Removal of the piece of content concerned. DMARGE only removes content from its platforms if there has been a serious breach of editorial guidelines.
- Apology. In serious cases of breaches of DMARGE’s editorial guidelines, an apology will be published on the relevant DMARGE platform. The complainant will be consulted about the wording and position of the apology.
If none of DMARGE’s avenues of address are considered appropriate, a complainant may submit their complaint to the Australian Press Council’s Press Complaints Commission for review at https://www.presscouncil.org.au/complaints/.
