Ange Postecoglou has enjoyed a record-breaking start to life at Tottenham Hotspur after today’s 2-0 win over Fulham has taken his team two points clear at the top of the Premier League, and the Australian boss has said the best is still yet to come.

Four months is a long time in football; Ange Postecoglou arrived in North London to a mixed response from the Spurs fans, who, for the final games of the season, were left slumped in their chairs, disinterested and bemused by the stuttering displays from their side as the team limped to the finish line of a mediocre campaign.

Pundits and armchair fans predicted a relegation battle for Tottenham after losing their all-time top goalscorer Harry Kane, who swapped his boyhood club for the Bundesliga during the summer window, and, at best, a top-half finish was all that Spurs could aim for in the new season.

In four short months, Ange Postecoglou has transformed this Tottenham team; across the park, in every position, the players are putting in performances of high quality to blow teams away with each passing fixture.

Summer signing Guglielmo Vicario has the highest save percentage in the Premier League this season; Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have formed an industrious partnership in defence; the midfield has been ticking comfortably, even as the players are rotated each game; and Spurs’ newly appointed captain Son Heung-Min has notched seven Premier League goals in his last nine games.

It’s a testament to the work that Postecoglou has done in such a short period of time, and today’s result against Fulham takes Tottenham Hotspur to 23 points for the season; the most points accumulated by a Premier League manager during his opening 9 games.

“It was a good result,” Postecoglou said after the game. “Fulham are a tough team to break down. I thought we handled it well in the first half.”

“We have to improve. We can be better, absolutely we can.”

Earlier this month, Ange Posetcoglou became the first manager in Premier League history to win the Manager of the Month award in his opening two months in charge; Spurs players Heung Min-Son and James Maddison also won the Player of the Month awards in that time.

Tottenham are now two points clear at the top of the Premier League and remain one of just two unbeaten sides in the league this season, with a chance to go five clear with a win over Crystal Palace next weekend.
