Andreas Metaxa, the founder of Supersnake, transitioned to full-time social media and content creation after working in the alcohol industry.
Hailing from the renowned Metaxa family, who are prominent in the alcohol industry, Andreas has encountered several challenges throughout his life despite his privileged upbringing.
In his late twenties, he had to confront cancer while navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. Andreas grew up in London with an American mother and Greek father and had to deal with being bullied by his peers, who often called him “dumb American” or “lazy Greek.”
How Did Supersnake Start?
Andreas Metaxa, who began his career working in finance, had never imagined creating a successful meme account – Supersnake was born out of a bet.
While working for a sake company, Metaxa and two friends made a wager on who could gain the most Instagram followers in three months.
The next morning, Metaxa woke up unsure of what kind of memes to create. Nonetheless, he launched an account, initially naming it “Super Slutty Snake”… we’re glad he made the change.
Metaxa explains: “There was no real plan. I just thought of a snake and wanted to poke fun at the world of high society – the things I knew about and would joke about with friends, like travel, nightlife, restaurants, and all that stuff. It was meant to be high society gossip in meme form.”
How Did Supersnake Become Famous?
Metaxa had started posting on the Supersnake account anonymously. After around six months, Cara Delevingne started following him and then quickly after “a lot more high profile, A-list type people” did the same.
What Is Supersnake About? The Concept Behind Supersnake
Much of Supersnake’s content is about the “party circuit”, a group of high-income or simply clout-chasing people that follow high-profile events around the world, but are considerably more interested in the exclusive parties that surround these events rather than the events themselves.
Examples include Fashion Week (in all its iterations), Coachella, Burning Man, and even the Formula One circuit to name a few. Metaxa observed that there are swathes of people who follow these events despite having no interest or expertise in the field itself.
Rather, they are simply there because it’s where the rich, powerful, and/or beautiful people choose to hang out, so they follow those people. Metaxa summarises: “That’s kind of the subject matter and the focus of most of my content – that type of person and those types of places that they frequent.”
Does Supersnake Have A TV Show?
Supersnake has been making waves in the entertainment industry with his unique brand of satire. Although none of his TV shows have been made yet, they all share a common theme of high society and wealthy individuals.
One of his animated shows features a world where all men are animals and all women are regular humans, set in different international locations. Each animal represents a different stereotype, with the fat wealthy Russian oligarch being a blue whale and club promoters as rats.
One of the concepts is about young men and women who met at a Swiss boarding school and now live a lavish life in London. This show has been in development for some time and is expected to have exciting news soon. Additionally, Metaxa is also working with Adam Sandler’s production company, Happy Madison, on another TV show concept.
Despite not having any TV shows produced yet, supersnake’s unique and intriguing concepts have generated a lot of buzz in the industry. Fans eagerly anticipate what Metaxa will create next.
Super Snake, when asked about upcoming events, stated that although none of his films has been produced yet, they share common themes within the comedy/drama genre.
The central focus revolves around portraying the high society and jet-set lifestyle of affluent individuals through satire. The content will often explore the party circuit, where an international crowd congregates at various cultural and sporting events, primarily for the social gatherings rather than the events themselves. These events encompass Fashion Week, Coachella, Burning Man, and Formula One races.
Entrepreneurial Journey
He embarked on his entrepreneurial journey with clothing print-on-demand, and later transitioned to collaborating with an Italian manufacturer. Together, they produced a variety of premium products, including Loro Piana material caps, hoodies, sweatpants, swimming shorts, and buckets made from Prada’s recycled nylon. Additionally, he engaged in collaborations with other brands on projects involving sneakers, underwear, and sunglasses.
Collaborations
One notable collaboration was with E11EVEN Miami, a top-ranking club in terms of revenue. They enlisted his help in curating a small luxury cap collection.
