Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga: Release Date, Plot, Cast, Trailer And More

Australia’s favourite post-apocalyptic wasteland returns to cinemas in 2024 in the latest instalment of the Mad Max saga, although don’t expect to see a mute Tom Hardy gracing our screens in George Miller’s upcoming prequel release.

Years before the celebrated remake of Mad Max: Fury Road starring Tom Hardy, Nicholas Hoult and Charlize Theron, Furiosa returns viewers to a desolate Australian scene, following the story of Theron’s character Furiosa, decades before the events of George Miller’s 2015 release.

Anya Taylor-Joy will take on the titular role of Furiosa, navigating a barren wasteland, 45 years after a global cataclysmic event led to modern society’s collapse. What small number of the population that has remained, exists in pockets within the largely-arid landscape of Australia, looting and fighting over precious little resources to survive.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is the origin story of renegade warrior Furiosa; it’s a prequel to the 2015 reboot Fury Road set years in the past when Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy) is a younger woman.

Furiosa lives in the Green Place of Many Mothers, a rare fertile area of the barren wasteland, capable of growing crops to sustain its female-only population before she’s snatched by a great biker horde led by the warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth).

It’s here that the unlikely pair travel across the desolate landscape before encountering the Citadel and come into conflict with the stronghold’s warlord, Immortan Joe (who you’ll remember as the primary antagonist in Fury Road).
