Spoiler alert: the following article contains spoilers for Ozark.
If you’ve been anxiously waiting to see what happens next to money-laundering Marty Byrde, played by Jason Bateman, and his family, you’re in luck. We finally know when the fourth (and final!) season of the award-winning crime-thriller, Ozark will premiere.
Of course, being a Netflix Original, Ozark will be released onto the streaming giant, Netflix on the 21st of January. However, unlike previous seasons of Ozark, this season will contain a total of fourteen episodes as opposed to ten, and will be split into two ‘parts’. Only the first seven episodes or ‘Part 1’ of Season 4 will be released on January 21, while the remaining seven episodes or ‘Part 2’ will be released later this year.
To quickly refresh your memory, in a nutshell, Season 3 of Ozark ended with Helen being shot dead by Omar Navarro in front of the Byrdes, Marty and Wendy, who over the course of Season 3 worked closer than ever with the Navarro cartel. Wendy, played by Laura Linney, also made the tough decision to order a hit on her own brother, Ben, in order to protect her children and husband from the cartel. And we saw Ruth agree to a deal with the KC Mob after she spent the whole season becoming more and more displeased about her relationship with the Byrdes.
It looks like Season 4 will pick up immediately after Helen’s death, as the latest trailer shows Marty and Wendy still covered in blood and, understandably, in shock. The trailer proves that the Byrdes will continue to work for the Navarro cartel in Season 4 as “messengers” but it seems that Marty & Wendy will be able to safely get out from under the cartel’s thumb… if they get Omar Navarro a deal with the FBI; an almost impossible feat.
If you simply can’t wait for the new season of Ozark, make sure you check out the latest Season 4 Part 1 trailer, which was released only a few days ago, below.
