Coolest Hotels In Perth For The Perfect "City of Light" Escape

The East Coast of Australia may hog most of the limelight when it comes to recommending things to do or places to stay for visitors to Down Under, but Perth, which sits alone over in the West is a city that everyone should visit at least once in their lives. It’s a bustling city with a rich history that includes playing a major role in World War II, where it became the base for submarines.

Perth also has a vibrant arts and entertainment industry, with several art galleries, museums and theatres all ready to welcome tourists and locals alike. Sport plays a major role in the country’s economy too, owing to the fact it has ample sunshine throughout the year, allowing outdoor sports to feature prominently on the calendar.

There’s plenty to see and do, then, so we suggest you book yourself a trip as soon as possible. As for the accommodation, well, we’ve got you sorted there too, with this list of the coolest hotels in Perth. Ranging from boutique to chain, there are styles and amenities to please even the fussiest of guests. So forget that trip to Bali, go exploring your own country instead.

COMO The Treasury

Part of the COMO Hotels and Resorts group, this 48 room hotel has taken over Perth’s historic State Buildings (which is situated quite literally in the centre of the city) to offer guests a completely modern place to stay, yet one that is in keeping with its heritage. No two rooms are the same size, but all offer plenty of square footage to enjoy a relaxing stay. Oh, and the minibar is included in the price, so have at it.

Alex Hotel

Not only does the Alex Hotel offer 74 rooms of sheer opulence, but since its owned by the same people who brought the Little Creatures Brewery to Australia, you can expect an ample selection of craft beers and wines to enjoy as you lounge either on your king or queen bed or in the bar.

We’d recommend the bar to be honest, as it’s fitted out with velvet sofas and plenty of other hipster-esque décors that reassures you that you are indeed, a cool person.

QT

QT hotels are among our favourite here at DMARGE, and for good reason. They consistently offer a stylish and comfortable setting to kick off your shoes and relax in luxury. You’re able to book into any of the 184 rooms, which are designed to reflect the city within which they’re situated, rather than follow a common theme across all venues within the wider group. The QT Perth is also where you can find the highest rooftop bar in city, so rather than explore at ground level the coolest bars Perth has to offer, take the lift up and be amazed by the views.

Tribe

Tribe is not your conventional hotel. There’s no gym or pool (does anyone really use them anyway?) nor is there a minibar in the room or a bellhop to take your bags to your room. Instead, it is simply an incredibly inviting, comfortable space designed for adult travellers. It’s situated next to luscious and leafy Kings Park and offers guests free-to-use bikes to get out and explore.

Ritz-Carlton

If it’s straight up luxury you’re after (and why shouldn’t it? you earned it) then book yourself into the Ritz-Carlton. Situated on the bank of the Swan River in stunning Elizabeth Quay, the Ritz-Carlton does everything in its power to keep you within its glass-clad walls. The restaurant is stocked with plenty of local ingredients, the infinity pool looks out to the river below and the spa is quite simply world-class. The rooms are as opulent as you’d expect and if you can stretch to the range-topping Ritz-Carlton suite, then you’ll essentially have yourself an entire apartment for the duration of your stay.

Crown Towers

No expense was quite literally spared when building Crown Towers. This AU$650 million hotel could easily be described as its own private beach resort, just sans beach. With a casino, naturally, featuring downstairs, and a full lagoon-style pool with its own private cabanas, you needn’t leave for the entirety of your stay. With 500 rooms on offer, you’re not short of choice, and they’re as grandeur as they come.

Hougomont

If quirky hotels are your cup of tea, then you’ll love the Hougomont. Situated right by the dock in Freemantle, the Hougomont takes plenty of inspiration from its nautical surroundings by using sea containers for the 37 rooms. Not that you’d know they were sea containers though, as they’re decked out with all the mod-cons you could ever want or need from a hotel room – you can even personalise the mini-bar before you arrive. You’re super close to the Freemantle Markets and even the prison, so for proper tourist-y weekends, the Hougomont is where you need to stay.
