All in a day’s work: a gang of motorcycle-riding jewellery thieves have ravaged one of Pair’s most luxurious shopfronts, taking millions of euros worth of sparkling goods off the hands of the high-end Italian designer, and not for the first time…

We’ve long been fans of Bulgari, with their sporty and luxurious Octo Roma being their latest piece to catch our discerning eye. Alas, it seems we aren’t the only ones keeping a close watch on the luxury Italian designer…

In a brazen daylight robbery, armed thieves raided the luxurious Bulgari jewellery boutique in a popular tourist area of central Paris over the weekend, making off with a haul of goodies estimated to be worth several million euros.

Unsurprisingly, this is not the first time that the boutique has been targeted, given that it represents a veritable gold mine for criminals with the right connections. In September 2021, the same store was robbed, and thieves made off with goods worth around 10 million euros ($16.8 million AUD).

This latest heist reportedly took place at around 1:45 pm local time. Three individuals, armed with ominously described “long weapons“, arrived on two motorbikes and entered the store in the fashionable central Paris district.

The source confirmed that two of the robbers hit a security guard before making their escape. The full extent of the damage and haul is still being assessed, but it is believed to be worth several million euros.

A video posted on social media showed two black motorbikes parked in front of the store, with a man wearing black clothes and a helmet, carrying a gun, standing guard. The footage also captured three men fleeing the scene on the aforementioned bikes.

The Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the robbery, but it is not yet clear if there is any connection to the previous heist at the same store. After the September 2021 robbery, one of the robbers was arrested, charged, and imprisoned, while two other suspects were arrested in June 2022 and placed in pre-trial detention.

It remains to be seen what measures will be put in place to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future, but it’s clear that the issue of how best to protect these high-end, high-value stores is still very much a work in progress. As the famous saying goes, fool me once…
