Baselworld may have been dominated by familiar Swiss names this year but Gucci certainly gave it a good shot with their latest Grip collection – a strikingly unusual line of watches which are inspired by the 1970s skateboarding scene.
We’re not too sure which part of it is supposed to be reminiscent of skating but it appears the case is designed to mimic the clean and flat surface of a skateboard deck. The result is an analogue design with three rotating dials to show the time and date – kind of like scales.
Even the minimalistic case in gold or silver options are intriguing with a cushion shape that comes in either 35mm or 38mm sizes to suit make or female wearers. Guccie have yet to reveal the Swiss-made collection’s availability but you can expect it to arrive sometime later this year.
