The Giordano TikTok filter is a visual effect of an old man with one eye closed and wearing a blue hoodie, that, when used, will appear behind whoever is in the camera frame and look as though he is creeping up on them. The Giordano filter is most commonly used to prank people into thinking there is someone behind them, and usually reacting in hilarious ways.

The Giordano filter was created by TikTok user Luca Bellei (@lucabellei27) who is the son of Giordano seen in the filter. Luca posted a video showing the Giordano TikTok filter being used for the first time on the 15th of June 2022. Luca collaborated with fellow Italian TikTok content creator, @aida.creator, to bring the filter to life.
Luca’s video has received over 5,000 likes at the time of publishing, but the true viral nature of the filter can be realised when you find out it has been used in over 236,000 TikTok videos. British TikToker @georgehalsey8 is credited as being the first person to use the Giordano filter, in a video where he uses it on himself and asks “who is this donnie?” George’s video has received 52,000 likes at the time of publishing.

How to use the Giordano TikTok filter?
If you want to use the Giordano TikTok filter, it’s incredibly easy to do so. Open the TikTok app and in the top right corner of the screen, you will see a magnifying glass icon, for search. Click this and type ‘Giordano filter’ into the search bar.
You will then be shown a number of TikTok videos that use the Giordano filter effect. Select any of the videos and once it is playing, there will be a button just above the TikTok user’s name near the bottom of the screen. It will say ‘Giordano’ and have an icon of a star.
Click this button and you will be taken to the Giordano filter page. At the top of the screen, you can select the ‘Add to favourites’ button, to make it easy to find the filter so you can use it in the future. But at the bottom of the screen, a big red button says ‘Use this effect.’ Click this button and you will be able to record a video straight away using the Giordano filter.
Giordano will automatically appear when the camera detects a person is in the frame. If you use the selfie camera to use the Giordano filter on yourself, he will appear straight away.
