Kris Van Assche has announced the closure of his eponymous label, Krissvanassche, citing financial hardship as his primary reason for stepping down from the ten year old business.
The DIOR HOMME creative director revealed to WWD that he would “take a break” from his own collections in order to dedicate more time to his Dior role.
He added, “Times are tough for independent labels. This wonderful adventure has reached a point where I feel the need to take a break and some distance to better think about how to develop my brand in the future.”
The grim announcement for fans of Van Assche’s impeccable minimalist designs also comes with the announcement that the label will not be producing or distributing its autumn/winter 2015 collection.
In discussing his business structure, Van Assche revealed that his brand’s survival thus far was due solely to “the financial support of friends.”
